Mental Factors are defined in Buddhism as:

Aspects of the mind that apprehend the quality of an object, and that have the ability to colour the mind.

  • Your mood and mental state has the ability to change how you perceive external things and events.
  • If your mental state is positive then you may see more positive elements outside you.

It is tricky because when it is occurring you are already in it. Mindfulness and meditation are suggested practices for overcoming this phenomena.
